I’ve made a new video for you to view demonstrating how I developed a simple pond flower using only Gimp 2.8. I hope this video inspires you to take a second look at your photographs and perhaps gives you a touch of guidance on how to develop your own. As there are countless scenarios and options to take when developing photos I have gone from a more rigid tutorial style to a simpler narration as I work through the process. I believe this will help those of you whom felt the tutorials were rushed and did not explain enough. I appreciate that feedback and need it to continue to grow and provide you with what you need and are looking for.
As you can clearly see of the two photographs it is the one on the right which stands out more vibrant and exciting. If we never try something different than our results will always be the same. If I never attempted to do a digital development before many of my photos and final creations would never have come to be. It’s through a desire to improve my self and perfect my craft that drives me to trying something new. Do I have all the answers? Absolutely not, I’m not even in the ball park some days. I share what I have learned and how I do things to help you answer some of the questions you may have been struggling with. As the video will demonstrate It took me less than 10 minutes to develop this photo and only three steps: Curves, Saturation, and Sharpening.
