At Home In The Forest – Revisit

[singlepic id=170 w=320 h=240 float=left]

Original shot (left) was taken at Moraine View Park near Leroy Illinois on April 19, 2008. This shot and location has always fired my imagination. How nature can create such perfect formations truly is miraculous. I have put a bit of thought into what the hollow in this tree could be. It could be a simple home for any woodland creature such as a squirrel, rabbit or numerous others.

The mind then might start to take you on a different journey if you let it.  Perhaps this hole is that infamous rabbit hole young Alice fell in or the workshop of the Keebler Elves.  Letting your imagination go could take you down any path.  The original photo seemed to lack the magic and mystique that I felt and saw at the time and as with other photos I’ve taken and love, I felt this one was past due for a make over.

[singlepic id=171 w=320 h=240 float=right] After a few hours of development using the utmost care not to alter or over expose more than I wanted to show on the final work my vision for this photo showed itself.  The photo took its own shape and was now that photo where so many imaginative things may have happened.

Robin Hood and his merry men may have used this hole to stash some trinkets from their plunders.  Perhaps those gnomes and faeries that fix things while we sleep have a workshop here.  Could it be the home of the infamous Rip Van Winkle?  So many questions that beg answered and yet only by letting your imagination go will you see the full journey.  It could be that this is the hideaway for that thieving tooth fairy.  What Journey will you let your mind take you on?  Dreams are one small part of being successful in what you do.  Experts say by visualizing what you want to achieve in the future you will be more likely to succeed.  In order to do that you must be able to use your imagination, and what better way to give it a work out than with a photo such as this.
